A large, gold plated table lighter lacquer painted, made by the French company S.T. Dupont.  Probably the finest name in the world of lighters, this prestigious company recently celebrated its 140th anniversary.  

The body of this very handsome lighter is hand painted by a Japanese artist, and is signed on the rear edge of the lighter.  The effect of this finish is almost like that of tortoiseshell colouring.  It has soft mottled variations of the golden brown throughout, and is of the highest quality finish.

This is a butane lighter, for which the gas is still available to purchase.  The lighter is in exceptional condition.  Made in France, the piece dates circa 1970's and is complete with the original box.
