A very well engineered spirit measure or jigger. From first view this appears to be a very normal spirit measure, allowing a pour from 1/2 ounce to 2 ounces to be measured. However, there is a clever trick to this. But squeezing in the lever on the side of the side of the piece it then allows the contents to be dropped cleanly into either a glass or a cocktail shaker. This piece was made by Napier, who began their life as E. A. Bliss Co. in Massachusetts in 1878, then moving to Meriden Connecticut in 1890. After which time the company saw a rapid expansion and success selling everything from home goods to jewellery. The company changed its name while under the tenure of James H. Napier to Napier-Bliss in 1920, and then to simply Napier in 1922. They were one of the leading makers of barware in America during the Art Deco period and developed some of the most collectible cocktail shakers such as the 'Penguin' and the 'Recipe' shaker.
This piece is in 'new old stock' condition, and comes in the original box.
